Through a grant provided by GHSEF, students in Ms. Bourque’s Drama classes were able to participate in the Text Alive! Program run by the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC. Text Alive! is a semester-long arts integration program that makes Shakespeare’s plays come alive through a performance-based teaching strategy. Students work directly with professionals from the Shakespeare Theatre on all aspects of theater production – production, set design, costuming and performance. The program culminated with a production of The Tempest at the Shakespeare Theatre Stage, with each participating class around the region performing a different scene from the play.
